READ BELOW FOR IMPORTANT FIT NOTES
The recommended torque range for the bar nuts is 20-25 ft-lbs. This will ensure that the bar is clamped properly. If not, the bar can move backwards putting pressure on the chain tensioner rod. This can cause failure of the adjusted rod system or damage to your cover.
All Husqvarna® Captive Nut Clutch Covers fit the WCS 3-point felling dogs only. They are not compatible with factory dogs or 4 and 5-points.
Clutch Covers cannot be retrofitted from captive to standard bar nuts.
If you plan to run a 404 chain, you may need to shave 0.015 (inch) off the chain slider to allow for the additional width.
CHIP DEFLECTOR NOTE
If you purchase a 390/572 clutch cover, use Stihl® chip deflector part no. 100-1001.
If you purchase a 365/372/585/592, use Husqvarna® chip deflector part no. 100-1012.
INSTALLATION TIP
You will need to remove the chain adjuster rod from your factory clutch cover and install it in the Westcoast Saw® cover. If you don't have that piece, contact us for help. See video for detailed installation instructions.
Make sure to tighten down the bar nuts to prevent bar movement. If they're too loose, the bar can move against the chain tensioner and cause damage.
When tightening the black gear cover, we recommend 7.4-foot pounds of torque to tighten the 2 bolts. Loctite is optional.
Felling dog bolts need to be installed from the inside of the cover, facing out so that the nut is on the outside of the felling dog. After this, put the cover flat on a table and make sure that you pound the chain sliders down until it stops against the cover - as far as it will go. The clearance is tight to get maximum wear out of our chain sliders. Once they are down tight your chain will spin freely.
