3-Point Westcoast Saw Felling Dogs: Fits exclusively with our 3-point Husqvarna® captive nut felling dogs

Chain Roller: Essential for preventing bar movement and ensuring optimal chain tension and longevity.
Important Fitment & Installation Details:
-
Exclusive Compatibility: All Westcoast Saw Husqvarna Clutch Covers fit our 3-point felling dogs only. They are not compatible with factory dogs or 4- and 5-point felling dogs.
-
Non-Retrofit: These Clutch Covers cannot be retrofitted from captive to standard bar nuts.
-
404 Chain Users: If you plan to run a 404 chain, you may need to shave 0.015 (inch) off the chain slider to allow for the additional width.
Torque Recommendations:
-
Bar Nuts: The recommended torque range for the bar nuts is 20-25 ft-lbs. This is crucial to ensure the bar is clamped properly. Insufficient tightening can cause the bar to move backward, putting pressure on the chain tensioner rod and potentially leading to system failure or damage to your cover.
-
Black Gear Cover Bolts: We recommend 7.4 foot-pounds of torque to tighten the two bolts. Loctite is optional.
Installation Tips
-
On the Husqvarna model, you will need to remove the chain adjuster rod from your factory clutch cover and install it in the Westcoast Saw® cover. If you don't have that piece, contact us for help. See video for detailed installation instructions.
-
Felling Dog Bolts & Chain Sliders:
-
Felling dog bolts need to be installed from the inside of the cover, facing out so that the nut is on the outside of the felling dog.
-
Next, put the cover flat on a table and make sure that you pound the chain sliders down until it stops against the cover – as far as it will go.
-
The clearance is tight to get maximum wear out of our chain sliders. Once they are down tight, your chain will spin freely.
