Oregon 72CK is part of the PowerCut product line of professional chainsaw chains.

72CK is a square ground chisel chain in the semi-skip (half skip) sequence. This chain is similar to standard chisel chain, but the grind on the cutter is angled, which makes it the fastest cutting chain available today. This chain is primarily used for falling big softwood trees on the west coast, but many professional cutters use this chain in the eastern hardwood forests also. This chain is designed to cut in clean, green wood, and any dirt or mud will dull it quickly.

The square ground cutter design can be sharpened with a 3-Corner or double beveled file, but it is very difficult without the use of a guide. Most users sharpen this chain with a chisel chain grinder. Like most Oregon chainsaw chain this style has the LubriTec oiling system to help keep both the bar and chain well lubricated.

Great chain

Great chain

Iv been running EXJ’s for a few years now and square filing them, which works. However, these semi skips freaking rip. The rakers were a little high out of the box, which is common for Oregon in my experience. I found the factory square grind more impressive than the round grind and, hand filing these square really brings them to life. They pull chunks out of these Kentucky hardwoods and Lord help the softwoods, they pull noodles out of them. Iv started running a 395 with a 28 inch stihl lightbar, for years Iv ran 461’s with 24. The 461’s turn into animals when you port them, I’m interested to see what kind of knuckle dragger this 395 is going to be.
I love your products, love your videos and would love to make it out west to cut eventually. Keep of the good work and thanks for the tuning screwdriver from this last order! Y’all are great!
